Hivatalossá vált, amit hónapok óta sejteni lehetett: a Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 nemcsak az év egyik legnagyobb sikere, hanem konkrétan nincs ellenfele, ha díjátadó gálákról van szó. A londoni BAFTA Games Awardson is a Sandfall Interactive instant klasszikusát választották az év legjobbjának, ezzel pedig teljessé vált az úgynevezett "Nagy Ötös" (Golden Joystick Awards, The Game Awards, DICE Awards, GDC Awards, BAFTA Games Awards) győzelmi sorozat. Ez a bravúr rendkívül ritka: korábban mindössze egyszer fordult elő, hogy egy játék az összes jelentős díjátadón elhódította az év játéka címet, akkor a Baldur's Gate 3 vitte végig a tökéletes kört.
A BAFTA-gálán nem állt meg egyetlen elismerésnél a Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, összesen három díjat nyert, köztük a legjobb debütálásért járó elismerést is, míg a főszereplő Maelle megformálásáért Jennifer Englishnek ítélték oda a legjobb női főszereplő díját. A játék már a nominációk számában is dominált, összesen tizenkét kategóriában volt érdekelt, köztük négy színészi jelöléssel.
A mezőnyben erős kihívók sorakoztak fel, mint a Death Stranding 2, a Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 vagy az Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, de végül egyikük sem tudta megtörni az Expedition 33 lendületét. A BAFTA döntése azért is volt kérdéses, mert a brit akadémia korábban többször is szembement a nemzetközi trendekkel. Most azonban nem borult a papírforma.
